Project News:

In mid-October, GRAND CABLE received a formal purchase order for US-standard ABC Triplex cable from a key customer in the Dominican Republic. The order covers three conductor sizes — No.6, No.4 and No.2 AWG — totaling nearly 100,000 feet, and will be used for overhead distribution networks serving residential and rural areas, where bundled conductors replace bare overhead lines to reduce line loss, limit unauthorized tapping and improve safety along public roads.

All three items are manufactured to American wire gauge (AWG) specifications rather than the metric sizes common in other markets, requiring dedicated stranding, insulation and lay-up parameters on our production lines. The conductor core is aluminum, keeping both weight and cost low for overhead installation, while the XLPE insulation is formulated for UV resistance and a continuous operating temperature of 90°C, allowing the cable to withstand prolonged direct sunlight and high ambient temperatures typical of the Caribbean climate without premature ageing of the insulation.

The cables will be printed "GRAND CABLE | ALAMBRE TRIPLEX DE ALUMINIO | XLPE-UV 90°C | 0.6/1KV" and supplied on wooden drums of 2,500 m for No.6 and No.4 AWG and 1,524 m for No.2 AWG, matched to the customer's stringing and handling practice. Delivery is scheduled for November 2026. This order marks a new milestone for GRAND CABLE's American-standard product line in the Caribbean market, following our established footprint in North and South America, and reflects the customer's confidence in our ability to deliver AWG-specification cable on a short lead time.
