Project News:

The Public Electricity Corporation (PEC) of Yemen is the state-owned entity responsible for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity across the country. Established in the 1970s, PEC plays a critical role in addressing Yemen's chronic electricity shortages, particularly in rural areas where access to reliable power remains a significant challenge. Due to years of political instability and conflict, PEC's infrastructure has suffered, leading to frequent power outages and limited coverage. Despite these challenges, PEC continues to strive for improvements in the nation's power supply, often relying on international support and partnerships.

Yemen's electricity sector faces numerous obstacles, including damaged infrastructure, fuel shortages, and financial constraints. As a result, many rural communities rely on alternative energy sources, such as private generators or solar power, to meet their basic needs. PEC has been working to expand and modernize the national grid, with a focus on improving rural electrification. International organizations, including the World Bank and Arab development funds, have provided assistance to support these efforts, though progress has been hindered by the ongoing crisis.

In December, Grand Cable achieved a significant milestone by successfully winning a bid for PEC's overhead insulated cable procurement project, aimed at enhancing rural power distribution networks. This marks Grand Cable's first official contract with PEC, reflecting the company's commitment to supporting Yemen's energy sector. The project is expected to contribute to the expansion and stabilization of electricity access in underserved areas, aligning with PEC's long-term goals. By providing high-quality infrastructure solutions, Grand Cable is playing a vital role in addressing Yemen's energy challenges and improving the quality of life for its rural population.

This collaboration not only strengthens Grand Cable's presence in the region but also underscores the importance of international cooperation in rebuilding Yemen's critical infrastructure. As PEC continues to seek solutions to the country's energy crisis, partnerships with companies like Grand Cable will be essential in driving progress and fostering sustainable development.
