Carbon Fiber Composite Core Supported Formed Annealed Aluminium Conductors 491MCM Gdansk

Fixed installation for medium voltage (MV) power in both EX- and safe areas, general purposes. For installation in areas exposed to MUD and drilling/cleaning fluids. Meets the MUD resistance requirement in NEK TS 606:2009. Model: RFOU-8.7/15KV Brand: Grand Cable

keyword:Overhead/Aerial Cable

The Aluminum Conductor Composite Core conductor consists of a hybrid carbon and glass fiber composite core which utilizes a high-temperature epoxy resin matrix to bind hundreds of thousands of individual fibers into a unified load-bearing tensile member. The central carbon fiber core is surrounded by high-grade boron-free glass fibers to improve flexibility and toughness while preventing galvanic corrosion between the carbon fibers and the aluminum strands. The composite core is surrounded by aluminum strands are generally fully annealed aluminum and trapezoidal in shape to provide the greatest conductivity and lowest possible electrical resistance for any given conductor diameter.

The conductor is rated for continuous operation at up to 180℃ (200℃ short-term emergency) and operates significantly cooler than round wire conductors of similar diameter and weight under equal load conditions due to its increased aluminum content and the higher conductivity aluminum.

The Conductors combine efficiency and increased current carrying capacity to deliver more power with less losses based on equal conductor size and weight.

Carry twice the current of a conventional conductor.

Lighter core allows the use of 28% more aluminum without a weight penalty.

Reduced Line Loss

Under equal load conditions reduces line losses by 30 to 40% compared to conductors of the same diameter and weight.

Longer Spans

Greater strength, effective self-damping and superior fatigue resistance allows increased spans between fewer or shorter structures.

Hybrid Carbon Composite Core is stronger and lighter than steel core.

The conductors are a technology solution to many of the challenges facing the utility industry today.

1. Replacing existing conductors with the conductors on a “brownfield” development can double capacity, reducing congestion and improving system reliability.

2. Utilizing the conductors on a “greenfield” development can produce very significant capital cost savings and is the most visual / environmental solution. The conductors are 30 ~ 40% more energy efficient, leading to very significant CO2 reductions.

3. The conductors have other qualities, including greater corrosion resistance, lighter weight, higher strength, vibration dampening and low thermal expansion that offer functional benefits and reliability.
