Project News:
Against the backdrop of Vietnam's state-owned power utility EVN exceeding its grid investment targets for two consecutive years and achieving record-breaking construction speeds, GRAND CABLE has recently signed a formal supply contract with a local power distribution company in Vietnam. Under the agreement, GRAND CABLE will supply PHLOX 75.5 and AACSR 305/40 conductors for transmission and distribution network projects in Vietnam.
This marks another tangible step forward for GRAND CABLE in the Vietnamese market. In 2025 alone, EVN completed and energized 260 grid projects at the 110-500kV level, adding approximately 27,000 MVA of substation capacity and building nearly 3,900 kilometers of transmission lines. For 2026, EVN plans to complete 300 projects. Such a massive construction pace continues to drive strong demand for basic materials such as conductors and cables, opening a clear window of opportunity for suppliers with international delivery capabilities.
The PHLOX 75.5 and AACSR 305/40 conductors are key materials for transmission and distribution lines. PHLOX products are suitable for overhead insulated systems in medium and low voltage distribution networks, enhancing line safety and resistance to external interference. AACSR (aluminum-alloy-clad steel reinforced) conductors, with their high tensile strength and excellent corrosion resistance, are widely used for long-span, heavy-load, and coastal environment transmission lines. The combined supply of these two product types covers typical application scenarios ranging from distribution networks to transmission grids.
The purchaser is a local distribution company in Vietnam responsible for grid construction and maintenance within its designated region. As Vietnam accelerates its smart grid development, island power supply, and rural electrification efforts, such local distribution companies serve as the front-line execution arm for project delivery. From the Con Dao submarine cable project being energized 3.5 months ahead of schedule to the Lao Cai - Vinh Yen 500kV line coming online 8 months early, a complete material supply chain — from conductors to cables — plays a critical role behind each success.
GRAND CABLE has been steadily deepening its presence in the Southeast Asian market in recent years, leveraging its technical expertise in specialty conductors and weather-resistant cables to participate in multiple regional power infrastructure projects. This direct procurement order from a Vietnamese local distribution company further validates the company's competitiveness in technical standards, product quality consistency, and delivery capabilities.
A representative of GRAND CABLE commented: "Vietnam's power grid is currently going through one of the fastest construction phases in its history. Being able to participate is a genuine test of our capabilities. We will strictly organize production and delivery according to project requirements, providing reliable product support for the upgrade of Vietnam's power infrastructure."
As EVN continues to advance key projects including island power supply, power plant evacuation lines, and northern grid upgrades, GRAND CABLE will keep a close watch on further opportunities in this market and strive to contribute its professional value to more projects.
